Many Xbox One games are out on the market, with most of them now transferring to the latest Xbox, the Xbox Series X|S. Some of them are criminally underrated for their time and deserve more love. Not only are they on the Xbox, but you’ll be able to find these games on many platforms, from PlayStation to PC and maybe even Nintendo Switch!

Here are some of the best games you can play on the Xbox One.

20. Vampyr

If you’ve ever wanted to experience being a vampire, this is the perfect game for that. In a third-person action-adventure game, you get to play as a doctor turned vampire and balance the delicate act of maintaining a relationship with London’s citizens and making sure your needs are sated.

This game is a lot of fun and has skill trees to enhance your abilities and make you a stronger vampire. What’s not to love?

19. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen

While Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen has made it onto some of our other lists, I still wholeheartedly believe more people should see the beauty of this game. Think of it as a crossover between games like Skyrim and Dark Souls. There is great difficulty when you come up against strong mobs, but there are also fun quests to complete and a great range of abilities and classes to utilize.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen allows for a lot of replayability and variety in your gameplay, depending on how you want to play. Whether you want to be someone in the frontline or hide in the shadows with a bow, these are all viable options, and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is a severely underrated Xbox One game.

18. Glass Masquerade

Glass Masquerade is a truly beautiful experience inspired by the Art Deco era and stained-glass art pieces. In this game, you have to solve puzzles by combining stained-glass pieces to create the full image. By doing so, you unveil clocks and various other art themes.

Glass Masquerade is a surprisingly cozy game, and if you like solving puzzles or doing jigsaws, you’ll definitely want to give this game a look.

17. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

Plants vs. Zombies is an iconic franchise, and Garden Warfare 2 allows you to play the silly game that Plants vs. Zombies is but take on enemies in an open arena. Not only can you battle against hordes of zombies, but you can also take on your friends (and foes) in combat.

This game is incredibly fun and suitable for all ages. Whether you want to get competitive with your friends or just kick back and battle some zombies on your own, there are many different game modes to experience.

16. Deliver Us The Moon

If you’re looking for a combat-free thriller experience with a side of puzzles, Deliver Us the Moon is the perfect game. A severely underrated Xbox One game, this hidden gem allows you to explore the moon as a lonely astronaut, solving puzzles in an apocalyptic environment as you track down why the Earth’s resources have been severely depleted, leaving humanity to go extinct.

It can get intense, and the sound design adds to that experience. Deliver Us the Moon is the way to go if you want a haunting puzzler game.

15. Quantum Break

If you want to experience time manipulation and time traveling, this is a fantastic game to get stuck into. Originally planned as a sequel to Alan Wake, Quantum Break soon became a game to stand on its own two feet. An action-adventure third-person shooter where you play as Jack Joyce, a man with amazing time manipulation powers.

When it comes to underrated Xbox One games, this one is definitely on the list. It can make combat incredibly fun and exciting as you can use time manipulation while in a battle, bending them to your whim. Not only that but there are also platformer-style elements scattered throughout the game when you aren’t fighting for your life.

What’s not to love?

14. Kingdom Come: Deliverance

If you’ve ever wanted to go back in time and live like they did during 1403, then this game allows you to do just that. In this action RPG, the game takes place in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia. This game allows you to experiment with classes as much as you like, as there is no set class outline, allowing you to jump from a Warrior to a Bard to a Thief!

Of course, with many games similar to this, there are plenty of quests to complete. This game strays from the path slightly by allowing you to complete them in a nonlinear path, and this game gives you a greater sense of freedom.

13. Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is an incredibly unique and thrilling experience that takes place in a vibrant and colorful world. With many quests to complete and a vast world to explore through grinding on rails, parkour, and zip lining, Sunset Overdrive offers a brand new take on a post-apocalyptic world.

If you enjoy fast-paced travel and being able to fly through the air similarly to Jet Set Radio or Mirror’s Edge, you’ll certainly enjoy playing this underrated Xbox One game.

12. Ryse: Son of Rome

Another historical game makes it onto the list, but it is vastly different from Kingdom Come: Deliverance. This game is a hack-and-slash set in Ancient Rome with fantastically intense combat.

You get to play as a Roman General who is determined to avenge his family. The story is quite dark, and the game can be violent frequently. If you enjoy video game violence and cutting down enemies where they stand, you’ll enjoy Ryse: Son of Rome.

11. Strange Brigade

Strange Brigade is a fantastic third-person shooter that has quite an exciting twist. Instead of fighting off Zombies or human enemies, you get to fight off all sorts of mythological creatures. From Minotaurs to Mummies and Gigantic Scorpions!

You can also team up with your friends for a funnier and chaotic experience. Not only do you get to fight off these wild enemies, but you also have to solve puzzles along the way on your expedition.

Out of the vast sea of shooters that exists, Strange Brigade is wonderful, keeps the genre fresh, and is definitely worthy of being on this underrated Xbox One games list.

10. Darksiders Genesis

This is another hack-and-slash, but it takes place in a top-down environment. You get to swap between two awesome characters, Strife and War. They both come with their assets and downsides but also have fantastic weapons you can fight with and some exciting burst abilities you can get as you get further into the game.

If you’re looking for a cooperative experience, Darksiders Genesis allows you to participate in a two-player co-op, where both of you can play Strife and War, respectively.

9. Prey

Prey is an incredibly intense post-apocalyptic FPS. With multiple endings to explore and quests to complete, you have to explore the spaceship Talos I. However, not everything is as it seems, as you come across alien creatures that are out for blood.

If you complete this game and find yourself wanting more, Prey also has two expansions, which are vastly different. With Mooncrash being a roguelike mode where you have to fight off hordes of enemies and work on getting upgrades and better weapons, you have to survive for as long as you can to permanently upgrade your skills to make you stronger for each run.

The Typhon Hunter expansion features two game modes: a VR experience and an escape room-style game mode. The escape room game mode is multiplayer, allowing one player to play as Morgan and the others to play as aliens to try to overwhelm Morgan. It can be incredibly chaotic but a lot of fun.

8. Ys Origin

Ys Origin is quite different from the other games on the list, as it’s an anime RPG with three playable characters as you work your way through a linear dungeon crawl. Each character comes with a unique way of combat, from magic to axes to even Greatswords.

There is something for everyone in the combat options available. Whether you want to go guns blazing melee, or you want to take a back seat and use magic.

7. Indivisible

Indivisible is truly a beautiful game with a gorgeous art style and fantastic mechanics in this platformer-style RPG. With a unique and heartwarming story, there’s some great combat and a fantastic soundtrack to go alongside this stunning game.

There is a mild issue with the amount of backtracking you’ll have to do throughout the game, and some of the combat can get repetitive at times, but don’t let it deter you from the heartwarming story that may or may not leave you in floods of tears.

6. As Dusk Falls

As Dusk Falls has a great story and uses interactive storytelling with the use of “choices matter” to make your decisions feel more impactful. This adventure game also comes with a co-op mode, allowing you to make decisions together in a team, meaning your decisions are pivotal and can completely change the story’s trajectory.

If you’re a fan of Telltale Games, you’ll want to give this underrated interactive story a go.

5. Killer Instinct

While there are plenty of fighting games out there that are very popular, Killer Instinct is one that often flies under the radar. Inspired by both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, it marries the best parts of both games and makes for a complex one-on-one fighter experience.

If you’re looking for a new fighting game and want to brush up on your combat skills, give this underrated Xbox One game a go.

4. Gears Tactics

The Gears franchise has plenty of games, but this one stands out from the crowd. Combining top-down camera angles with turn-based tactics, it’s up to you to take command, lead soldiers into battle, and come home victorious. As you progress through the game, you can level up your characters, gain new skills and abilities, and work to make your team as strong as possible.

Gears Tactics is incredibly different from the other shooters in the franchise, but it comes as a refreshing take on the series.

3. Metro 2033

If you’re looking for that post-apocalyptic survival horror experience, Metro 2033 is sure to scare the pants off of you. It has a thick, intense atmosphere as you explore the tunnels of the Moscow Metro station as you fight for survival against both humans and mutants. It’s a fantastic game with a lot of different weapon options, so you can choose to go guns blazing or act slightly stealthier if you want to.

However, you will have to learn to loot and scavenge, as supplies are incredibly limited and will test your mettle.

2. Battle Chasers: Nightwar

With a cast of lovable characters, you have a party of a Mage, a Swordsman, a War Golem, a Rogue, and a young girl with magical gauntlets. In this isometric turn-based RPG, you have to make your way through a mysterious island, encountering enemies in dungeons along the way.

This game has a beautiful art style and can be quite the challenge the further you delve into Battle Chasers: Nightwar. If you’re looking for an intense RPG with a difficulty spike, give this underrated Xbox game a go.

1. Solasta: Crown of the Magister

If you’ve been enjoying the hype of Baldur’s Gate 3 and are looking for a similar game, look no further. Solasta: Crown of the Magister follows the D&D fifth edition rules and races, so you’ll feel right at home as you play along in this RPG. You’ll be able to choose from various classes and races and explore the ruins of the Elven empire, using turn-based combat along the way.

It has some fantastic combat available and allows you to experiment with the type of fighter you want to be.

That concludes our list of underrated Xbox One games. Which of these games would you consider underrated?
