A new trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes showcases the gameplay from the upcoming RPG.

Straight from Gamescom, the Hundred Heroes video showcases the game’s unique battle system and character abilities. Sadly, if you’re expecting depth, you’ll have to wait. The trailer ends with a tease promising more information at Tokyo Game Show.

Hundred Heroes is billed as a spiritual successor to the beloved Suikoden franchise. Developer Rabbit & Bear Studios is made up of veteran developers that worked on the Suikoden series. Hundred Heroes boasts over 100 playable characters, a gorgeous retro art style, and classic JRPG combat.

Earlier this year, Eiyuden Chronicle Rising was released, the prequel to Hundred Heroes. We reviewed the game in May and liked what we saw:

“Even though its side quests and story are mostly forgettable, there is something incredibly addicting about Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. Its gameplay loop of completing quests, filling your stamp book, upgrading the town and your gear, and unlocking the next area sinks its teeth into you. Rising offers up an addictive, charming, and beautiful taste of what’s to come.”

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is due out in 2023. It will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
