Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games announced an agreement for a sequel to one of the best games of the past few years. Control 2 is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Remedy and 505 games will both co-develop and co-publish the sequel.

The game was previously known as Codename Heron.

Control, released in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, is one of the best third-person shooters ever made. The title borrows elements from the Metroidvania gaming genre, featuring non-linear progression and improving your character’s strengths and abilities.

“We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies,” said Rami and Raffi Galante, the co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group/505 Games. “Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2.”

Michael Kasurinen, Game Director for the Control franchise, added the following.

“With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us. With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”

Remedy Entertainment is also developing a sequel to Alan Wake, a former Xbox 360 exclusive title. The studio is also working alongside Rockstar Games on a project involving Max Payne 1&2
