Death Stranding has finally arrived on PC and lots of gamers are getting to experience the unique world created by Hideo Kojima. What is Repatriation in Death Stranding?
Death Stranding Repatriation is a gameplay feature that allows Sam to revive himself if he dies in the game. Essentially, when Sam dies, his soul is transported to a giant body of water called the Seam, which is a middle ground of sorts. While there, players can solve a puzzle to revive themselves and return to the regular world.
To revive yourself in Death Stranding, you’ll need to find a small golden strand floating in the water. When you’ve located it, swim towards it and look for Sam’s body nearby. Eventually, you’ll find the body and can interact with it to repatriate and cue a cutscene to return to the main world.
This is certainly an interesting feature and is definitely a lot different than the traditional “respawn to the last save point” feature that has become so common. Further, the mechanic allows for consequences of death and eliminates the “I can just respawn” mentality because now players will have to solve a puzzle in order to get back to where they were.
