On the surface, Dragon Quest Treasures seems to have a lot in common with the mainline series. It features plenty of the same monsters, signature magic spells, and visual style. The protagonists, Erik and Mia, were even originally in Dragon Quest XI. But this treasure-hunting spin-off is different from typical Dragon Quest games. One way in which it separates itself is its approach to healing your characters. You won’t have access to any usual RPG healing items. Read on to find out how to heal and keep your party in top condition.
How to Heal in Dragon Quest Treasures
Dragon Quest Treasures doesn’t feature healing items in the traditional sense. You won’t be able to open up the menu and use a potion to heal your character. Magic also can’t be restored through any typically used items. Instead, healing is done through the use of Erik and Mia’s catapult.
If you want to heal your allies mid-battle, you’ll need to find some Heal pellets. Load these into your catapult and target your monsters while they’re fighting your enemies. You can get a stack of Heal pellets right at the start of the game if you know where to look.
Monsters have the habit of using up their MP frequently. This can be a real problem since you don’t have direct control over their actions. Luckily, you can replenish their MP in the same way. You’ll just need to use Addra pellets instead.
Your monsters won’t be the only ones taking damage, of course. Erik and Mia will both lose their own share of health very easily. Hold down the X button if you need to get yourself healed in a pinch. You’ll expend your own MP, but the tradeoff is definitely worth it.
But what if you’re out of healing pellets for your team? How can you heal them if you don’t have any items left? That can be solved by visiting a campfire.
These can be found all over the world, and their placements are sprinkled pretty generously around pretty generously. Your minimap will show you a campfire icon to designate that one is nearby. Resting at campfires will completely refill your entire team’s health and MP.
