What Does Dexterity Do in Elden Ring?

Dexterity is one of the two main melee attributes in Elden Ring, and it affects how quick your attacks are. Furthermore, it will allow you to concentrate on wielding dexterity-based weapons, which are typically fast and slashing-based. Strength is the other primary melee stat, and it allows you to use larger, slower, heavy-hitting armaments. That being said, strength-based weapons have a more straightforward move set. Dexterity-based weapons, on the other hand, are more advanced and allow for a wider range of attacks.

For example, if you were to main a Katana in Elden Ring, you’ll need to focus on increasing your dexterity. Whereas if you were to use a Heavy Greatsword, you’ll need to focus on leveling your strength attribute. With that said, some weapons require you to level both attributes before you can use them effectively.

Most dexterity-focused players have nimble, lightweight builds that can quickly engage in a fight, land a combo of hits, and speedily disengage. However, that is only what dexterity affects in combat. The attribute can also help the quickness of your spell casting, the types of ashes of war on weapons, fall damage, and the quickness of your dodge move. Overall dexterity affects not only the dexterity-based weapons you can use but also your player’s attack speed and overall movement.
