Among Us, the social deduction game rocking the internet can be a little vague. The game was made by a small studio, so it’s online stuff can be awkward. So, getting to play Among Us with friends can be frustrating at best! That being said, after you do it a few times, it gets to be really easy. Check out this guide to find out how to play with a friend.
How to Invite Friends to a Game in Among Us
In order to invite your friends to a game, you first need to start a game. Once in a lobby, at the bottom center of the screen, there will be a short room code. Tell your friends the code, then have them go to the “Private” level with the “Enter Code” choice. Select that, enter the room code, and you should be in the lobby!
Creating a room also lets you customize the settings of the game, so you might want to customize before you send the code!
If you don’t want random players joining your lobby, make sure the room is set to “Private.” Otherwise, it will show up on the public servers option of the home screen. It’ll be a little harder to coordinate with randoms, but that can be half the fun!
Public rooms also have room codes, so you can invite your friend to a specific lobby without them having to scan the server list. You see the code with or without host privileges.
Unfortunately, there aren’t too many ways to hide the room code. So, if you plan on streaming, you may have to get innovative about covering up the code while in the lobby to avoid people jumping in.
Among Us has miraculously hit its prime after two years of relative obscurity. This massive surge of attention is likely due to popular streamers discovering the game. Because of this, there’s a chance that streamer culture will have a huge impact on the future of these obscure online titles. But we will have to wait to see what happens.
