How to Throw the Ball Away in Madden 23
To throw away the ball, click on the controller’s right thumbstick, or press the X key on your keyboard. Pressing this action will trigger your quarterback to quickly hurl the ball toward the out-of-bounds area. Once the football is outside of the playing boundaries, the play will come to a close. Therefore, you can strategize your next move, though at the cost of a down before the line. That’s why it’s best to use this technique as a last resort if no one is available and you don’t see a window to make a run for it.
Keep in mind that you must move left or right before throwing away the ball. If you hike and stand in place while tossing the ball to the side, you’ll be penalized for intentional grounding. Just take a couple of steps if you do plan on canceling the play by getting rid of the ball.
The quarterback is basically the overseer of the field, right after the coach themselves. Once a play is initiated, both the defensive and offensive lines will clash, emitting a range of options to choose from. They can run into the field to generate some yardage; lob the ball to a fellow team player; take a tackle and suffer the consequences. The inclusion of the throwing method acts as a backup, and it’s supremely more effective than stepping backward while the rival team rushes toward you. You’ll lose some yards if you do this, so try and enact the throwing solution if you can’t find a passing window.
