The Rarest WoW Titles Still Obtainable and How to Get Them

Rarest WoW Titles Still Obtainable and How to Get Them

It’s been already more than three months since the release of Shadowlands 9.2 and the next World of Warcraft expansion is still a long ways away. But just because things are a bit slow at the moment, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do in the game. Quite the contrary. Now is the perfect time to focus on expanding your collections and we’re here to help you do just that. Specifically, in this article we’re going to talk about the rarest WoW titles you can still obtain if you’ve got enough time on your hands.

Titles are not quite as sought-after as mounts or transmogs but they’re still an important status symbol that shows others how serious you are about World of Warcraft. Especially if said titles are owned by only a fraction of players. As I’m sure you’ve already gathered by now, those are exactly the type of titles we’ll be covering here.

A little while back I did a similar list covering the rarest WoW mounts using data from a very useful website called Data For Azeroth. The site does a great job at gathering statistics and gets updated regularly, so let’s keep using that for this article as well. The data should be very fresh since the last update took place earlier this month.

In this article, we’ll discuss only titles that are still obtainable in-game. To make things more interesting, I’m going to lump together similar PvP titles for both factions even if they’re not on the same exact level of rarity. Otherwise, those titles alone would take up almost half the list.

With that introduction out of the way, let’s take a look at the rest WoW titles owned by less than 1% of the playerbase as of May 2022.

18. Killer of Kezan

Killer of Kezan is an Alliance-only title first introduced during Warlords of Draenor. To get this title you’ll need to kill 500 Goblin players in PvP anywhere across Draenor. However, to even unlock the ability to start working towards the title you’ll first need to construct a level 2 Gladiator’s Sanctum in your Garrison. Doing so will enable Nemesis quests, each of which involves killing 500 players of a specific race.

Nemesis quests are particularly difficult to complete these days because you won’t find many players hanging out in Draenor. The only realistic way of completing these quests is by grinding Ashran but that’s not even the worst part.

The biggest problem is that very few people play as Goblins. Hence why getting 500 honorable kills on them may take you weeks if not more.

17. Huojin’s Fall

You can get Huojin’s Fall by going through the same process described earlier. However, instead of killing Goblins, you’ll need to focus on getting 500 honorable kills on Pandaren players. Again, this is one of the rarest WoW titles out there because there aren’t a whole lot of people playing pandas. Especially on the Horde side. This title is also Alliance-only but there is a Horde equivalent called Terror of the Tushui. That one is a bit more common but not by much.

The most efficient way of getting these Nemesis titles is by grouping with other players who are also trying to complete them. While in a group, any honorable kill the party gets is multiplied by the number of people in said party. But keep in mind that only players who are on the same quest are eligible.

You could also gather your group and sit outside raid entrances to try and ambush players who are going in and out. However, it’s generally better to farm the kills in Ashran instead.

16. Soloist

rarest wow titles soloist

The Soloist title is a recent addition to the game as it was introduced only a few months back together with Shadowlands 9.2. To get this title you’ll need to complete the Supreme Soloist achievement, which involves winning 150 rounds of Solo Shuffle.

Solo Shuffle is a new Arena Brawl mode that spices things up by shuffling players on both teams after each round. The mode has been very well received so I’m guessing that Soloist won’t remain one of the rarest WoW titles for much longer.

Each match of Solo Shuffle consists of 6 rounds and you only have to win 150 of them to get the achievement and title. This would have been much harder if the requirement was to win 150 matches but 150 rounds should be manageable even for casual Arena players.

15. The Ascended

Next up we have another Shadowlands title, this one added in patch 9.0.2. As you may have guessed by now, this one is tied to the Kyrian. You won’t be able to complete it with a character that’s part of a different Covenant.

To unlock the title, you’ll need to complete the Path of Ascension mini-game. Which involves fighting progressively stronger bosses using Soulbinds instead of your own character. Don’t get too excited just yet, though. Before you can do that you’ll first need to upgrade Path of Ascension in your Sanctum all the way up to tier 5.

Only after completing all the trials on Humility difficulty will you be able to become the Ascended. Upgrading Path of Ascension to tier 5 requires no less than 44K anima and 150 Redeemed Souls. Needless to say, you’ll need to farm quite a bit for this one.

14. Lord of War/Lady of War

Next up on our list of rarest WoW titles, we have Lord of War/Lady of War. While technically two titles, I’m listing them together because you can get either by completing the exact same achievement. The only difference is that Lord of War is awarded to male characters while Lady of War is awarded to female characters.

Unlocking either title requires you to complete The Last of Us achievement – “become the last gladiator standing at the Highmaul Coliseum.” To do that, you’ll first need to build a level 3 Gladiator’s Sanctum building in your Garrison on Draenor.

But to unlock access to that building you’ll first need to do a bunch of PvP on Draenor. You guessed it, it’s off to Ashran again. Once you have the required building, you can start queuing up for the Highmaul Coliseum. Win in the arena to get your shiny new title.

13. Expedition Leader

Battle for Azeroth was one of the worst World of Warcraft expansions but it did introduce a couple of interesting activities like Island Expeditions. Despite not living up to their true potential, Island Expeditions were pretty fun for the first couple of weeks. However, Blizzard apparently thought they would become a smash hit because they made an achievement that requires you to run them ad nauseam.

If you manage to do it, you’ll get rewarded with one of the rarest WoW titles currently in the game – Expedition Leader. The achievement in question is also called Expedition Leader and involves completing 11 smaller achievements while running Island Expeditions. Well, I say smaller but some of them are actually quite challenging. A lot of them also rely heavily on luck so make sure to pray to the RNG gods beforehand.

The good news is that by the time you’re done with it you’ll probably accumulate a bunch of other rewards like mounts and pets. In the end, the hassle will be well worth it. But make no mistake, it is most certainly a hassle.

12. Warbound/Warbringer

It’s pretty impressive that this one still manages to be one of the rarest WoW titles even today considering it was originally introduced way back in Cataclysm. Warbound is awarded for completing the Warbound Veteran of the Alliance achievement while Warbringer is awarded for completing the Warbringer of the Horde achievement. They both require you to do the same thing – win 300 rated battlegrounds.

Winning even a few rated battlegrounds can be challenging, let alone 300. You’ll need to run battlegrounds with a very good group to stand a chance at earning this achievement and associated title. And even then it’s probably going to take you a very long time.

You can get the Veteran of the Alliance/Veteran of the Horde title for winning just 75 rated battlegrounds. But, let’s be honest, that’s not nearly as prestigious as Warbound/Warbringer.

11. Gorgeous

The Gorgeous title is another blast from the past. First introduced way back during Mists of Pandaria and then changed during Battle for Azeroth, the title is a reward for completing the Master of Deepwind Gorge meta-achievement. Yes, this is another PvP title.

I’m sure you’ve already noticed by now that some of the rarest WoW titles are related to PvP. And there are a bunch more to come further down on the list, so buckle up.

To get Master of Deepwind Gorge you’ll need to complete six different achievements. Some of these are pretty easy but there’s one that requires you to win a match in the battleground with a score of 1500 to 0. You’ll essentially need to be paired up with a team of complete amateurs in order to pull that off. And even then, it’s still going to be very hard. But if you managed to get that one, the rest shouldn’t give you too much trouble.

10. Khan

Surprise, surprise! We have another PvP achievement and associated title. You’ll get this one by completing the Khan meta-achievement, which requires you to do a whole bunch of battlegrounds. This time around, you’ll need to run several different BGs instead of focusing on just one.

Namely, to become a Khan, you’ll have to unlock a number of achievements while playing Battle for Gilneas, Twin Peaks, Temple of Kotmogu, Isle of Conquest, and Silvershard Mines. In total, there are over 50 different achievements that need to be completed across the five battlegrounds to unlock the Khan meta-achievement and title.

Needless to say, this is going to take a ton of work. You’ll earn a lot of those achievements just by playing battlegrounds regularly. But for some of them you’ll definitely have to plan ahead. A good example is Cloud Nine, which requires you to capture and return nine flags in a single Twin Peaks battle. Good luck with that one.

9. Trainer

rarest wow titles of all time

Let’s move away from regular PvP for a bit and talk about one of the rarest WoW titles related to pet battles. Everybody wants to be the very best like no one ever was, but doing that in World of Warcraft is extremely time-consuming.

Unlocking the Trainer title is done via the Deadly Pet Brawler achievement, which requires you to win no less than 1000 pet battles against other players with a full team of 25 pets.

If you’re thinking you can battle against some of your friends to speed things up, you better think again. That’s because you’ll need to queue through Find Battle to get the pet battles to count towards the achievement.

The silver lining is that Deadly Pet Brawler is account-wide so you don’t need to win the 1000 pet battles on a single character. You’ll probably still have to spend months on this one, though.

8. Prospector

rarest wow titles prospector

Yes indeed, we have another PvP title for you. The Prospector title was introduced at the end of Legion and is awarded for completing the Master of Seething Shore meta-achievement. You probably know where this is going.

To get Master of Seething Shore you’ll need to complete eight different achievements and they’re all, you guessed it, related to the Seething Shore battleground. This is basically just like Gorgeous but for a different BG. Even some of the achievements are identical, including having to win a match of Seething Shore with a score of 1500 to 0.

Another achievement has you collecting 25K Azerite, which actually used to be 100K before Blizzard decided to change it in order to make getting the title easier. But honestly, this is still a huge hassle to get even after the change, hence why it’s on this list.

7. The Party Herald

rarest wow titles shadowlands

We finally have another title that was added more recently. Namely, near the beginning of Shadowlands. You’ll need to unlock the eponymous The Party Herald meta-achievement to get this title, which involves completing 10 achievements related to the Ember Court.

Right off the bat, you’ll need a Venthyr character with access to the Ember Court to even attempt this one. But that’s the easy part. Unlocking The Party Herald isn’t particularly difficult, but it is quite time-consuming.

Similar to a lot of Covenant stuff, you can only make a limited amount of progress per week while completing activities for the Ember Court. If that wasn’t enough, some of the quests have more than a dozen little things you have to do in order to complete them. These include, among other things, unlocking amenities, unlocking upgrades, unlocking favors, helping guests, and more.

6. Tower Ranger

Speaking of rarest WoW titles that will eat up a lot of your time, next up we have Tower Ranger. I hope you love Torghast because you’ll have to spend a lot of time in there if you want to get your hands on this title.

You only have to complete five achievements to unlock this title, which doesn’t sound too bad, right? Well, one of them is a massive grind as it requires you to achieve a flawless run on layer 16 of every wing in Torghast. The good news is that completing Tower Ranger also awards you with one of the rarest WoW mounts, as well as an additional mount and some other rewards.

Some of the requirements for Tower Ranger will be lowered come patch 9.2.5, so you may want to hold off a bit before you attempt this one. You’ll still need to get those flawless runs on all wings at layer 16, though.

5. Grand Marshal/High Warlord

These are unquestionably some of the most infamous titles in World of Warcraft history. Anybody who played during vanilla or Classic knows the extreme lengths some players went to as they attempted to achieve the rank of Grand Marshal (Alliance) or High Warlord (Horde). And most of those players never ended up getting the title in spite of all that.

The original titles were actually removed a long time ago but were later reintroduced during Cataclysm. These days, to get either Grand Marshal or High Warlord you’ll need to earn a rated battleground rating of 2400.

Getting the current version of either title is easier now than it was back in the day, but it still takes a massive amount of work. Hence, why this remains one of the rarest WoW titles despite having been in the game for over a decade.

Even some of the titles leading up to these, such as Field Marshal/Warlord and Marshal/General, are rarer than a lot of the titles we talked about earlier on this list. I just didn’t want to give them separate entries to avoid repetition.

4. Hero of the Alliance/Hero of the Horde

Titles like Hero of the Alliance and Hero of the Horde are rightfully reserved for the handful of dedicated players who want nothing more than to proudly represent their faction. But to be able to do that, you’ll need to finish a PvP season in the top 0.5% of the rated battleground ladder. Moreover, you’ll need to win at least 50 during that season.

Basically, you’ll need to do rated battlegrounds pretty much on a daily basis to even have a chance at getting this one. Not just that, but you’ll have to do it consistently throughout the course of an entire season.

Hero of the Alliance/Hero of the Horde was originally a Feat of Strength introduced during Cataclysm but has since been turned into a regular PvP achievement and title.

3. Guardian of the Pattern

This one is pretty straightforward. Guardian of the Pattern isn’t tied to a meta-achievement and you don’t have to do PvP for months to get it. All you have to do is beat the Jailer on Mythic difficulty. Hey, I only said it was straightforward. I didn’t say it was going to be easy.

Sepulcher of the First One is the last raid in the game right now so finishing it is quite a challenge, let alone finishing it on Mythic difficulty. It goes without saying that you’ll need to be in a raiding guild if you want to attempt to become Guardian of the Pattern. And a very good raiding guild at that.

If you somehow manage to down the big baddie of the expansion, you’ll also get the Zereth Overseer for your efforts, which is currently the rarest mount in the game.

2. The Cryptic Hero

rarest world of warcraft titles

We’re getting close to the end of our rarest WoW titles list here. This particular title has a very appropriate name as it’s tied to a hidden Feat of Strength as opposed to a regular achievement. The Feat of Strength requires you to finish Shadowlands Mythic+ Season 3 with a Mythic+ rating in the top 0.1% of your faction. In other words, you’ll need to be among the best of the best at Mythic+ during season 3.

Given that Shadowlands season 3 is ending pretty soon, it’s safe to say that it’s impossible to get this achievement if you haven’t already been working towards it for the past few months. And even if you have been doing tons of Mythic+ this season, you still only have a very small chance of meeting the requirements.

But don’t feel too bad if you can’t get this title because there will be another one with similar requirements next season. Maybe you’ll have better luck next time.

1. Cosmic Gladiator

rarest wow titles - cosmic gladiator

And last but not least we have, of course, the highly sought-after Gladiator title. These work similarly to the Mythic+ titles in that there’s a new title every season and you only have a limited window to get your hands on it. During Shadowlands season 3 the title is Cosmic Gladiator.

As always, getting a Gladiator title requires you to finish the season in the top 0.1% of the 3v3 Arena ladder. You’ll also need to win at least 150 games during the current season.

As of this writing, the season is still ongoing so nobody has this title just yet. Same goes for The Cryptic Hero. I’m putting this preemptively at number one on the list because it will almost certainly end up being rarer than the Mythic+ title. Cosmic Gladiator is definitely more sought-after, especially since it comes with an awesome Soul Eater mount, but it’s significantly harder to obtain.
