The most recent installment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Village carries over some of the best elements from the previous entries, which of course includes scrounging for weapons and ammo to keep up with the various monsters assaulting you. In this guide, we’re going to help you find the Waterwheel weapon, better known as the GM 79 Grenade launcher
How to Get the Waterwheel GM 79 Grenade Launcher
The GM 79 Grenade Launcher is the Waterwheel Weapon Treasure, and its location can be found early on in the game, though it is only accessible after defeating Donna Beneviento. By this point, you should have the Four-Winged Unborn Key and the Iron Insignia Key, both of which are needed to get the weapon.
The GM 79 Grenade Launcher will appear on the map in East Old Town early on, but won’t be accessible until after Beneviento is defeated. Your going two need two keys, the Iron Insignia key, and the Four-Winged Unborn key.
The Iron Insignia key is found in Castle Dimitrescu by completing the piano puzzle. The Four-Winged key is found by combining the other Winged keys together.
On your way to fight against Salvatore Moreau, you’ll go through East Old Town. While there, go south of the Alter towards the large gate. You’ll use the Four-Winged key to unlock it.
From here you go down the path and take a left, continuing until the first house you see. On the way, you’re confronted by a monster, but don’t worry about engaging it, as it will run off on its own. You’ll also find a body with the file “Vasile’s Final Testament” on it.
The door to the house should have a golden insignia on it. Once you’re sure you’ve found it, you’ll enter the house using the Iron Insignia Key. Once inside, you’ll see the Waterwheel weapon on the table directly in front of you. To the right will be a crate with some ammo for the weapon and a lockpick on the windowsill of the back wall.
The GM 79 Grenade Launcher is a powerful weapon that does great damage to most enemies. It’s recommended you find the weapon before facing Moreau, as it can be very useful.
Resident Evil Village can definitely be difficult for new players, especially for those just jumping into the series. Hopefully finding the GM 79 Grenade Launcher will make it a little easier for you.
