Stardew Valley Tiger Trout - How to Catch

In our guide below, we’re going to outline the best methods for catching Stardew Valley‘s elusive Tiger Trout. Part of the lasting charm of this game, aside from its relaxing atmosphere and active in-game community, is just how many things there are to discover around the game’s namesake town. Certain things need to be done during specific times and seasons, and this certainly applies to this elusive sea creature. Luckily, we know all the tricks.

What is the Best Place to Catch a Tiger Trout in Stardew Valley?

What is the Best Place to Catch a Tiger Trout in Stardew Valley?

The Tiger Trout’s rarity has befuddled many trying to finish the River Fish Bundle in the Community Center’s Fish Tank. The fact it is a relatively difficult fish to catch once hooked just adds to the problem. Well, we’re here to give you a fighting chance!

First, the Tiger Trout can only be caught during the Fall or Winter months. Second, it is a river fish, but only resides in the stream at the south end of town. You can also catch it as the river runs further west into Cindersap Forest by Leah’s house. Lastly, make sure you’re fishing for it between 6am and 7pm, otherwise you’re just wasting bait and time.

If you’ve been fishing a long time for this one and are just tired of doing it, it can be bought as well. Make sure to pay regular visits to the Traveling Cart on Fridays and Sundays. There’s a chance the Merchant will be selling it. He may have it for sale with prices ranging anywhere from 450G to 1000G, so be ready to show up with a fat wallet.

The Traveling Merchant isn’t the only place to buy the Tiger Trout. If you’re further into the game and have unlocked the sewer, you may have come across Krobus’ shop. Like the Traveling Merchant, he also has a rotating stock. On Wednesdays, he sells one of eleven possible kinds of fish. If you happen to catch him on a Wednesday where he’s selling a Tiger Trout, you can have it for only 200G.
