Terraria has far too many resources, frankly. Not only do you need many of them for every class, but you need a huge variety. That’s one of the cool parts of the game, but it can also be very annoying. The game doesn’t really hold your hand, either. Not until you get your first drop. That’s what this guide is here to do! We’re going to help you get a Tissue Sample in Terraria so you can go about farming at your leisure.
How to Get Tissue Sample in Terraria
Tissue Samples are a drop from the Brain of Cthulhu boss, a Crimson enemy from Terraria games that have the Crimson instead of the Corruption. Tissue Samples drop from the Creeper adds that fly around it, as well as drop from its Treasure Bag when it is defeated. These items are used in the Obsidian Armor, the Crimson Armor, and the Deathbringer Pickaxe. It is also used for the Flesh Grinder hammer and the Meatball flail.
The Brain of Cthulhu is the boss of the Crimson area, and will require some preparation to summon, let alone kill. You and your friends must destroy three Crimson Hearts, small objects in the Underground Crimson that can be destroyed via Hammers or Explosives. These hearts drop potent weapons, but also move the world towards the Brain of Cthulhu.
In the first phase, the brain’s Creepers – little eyeballs that fly around it – must be killed. They will drop tissue samples. Then, once all of the little eyes are destroyed, you can defeat the brain itself. The treasure bags that it drops will grant the tissue sample resource.
Crafting Overview
You’ll need quite a few samples to craft the Crimson Armor – made from 60 Crimtane Bars and 45 Tissue Samples for the full set. You’ll need less for Obsidian Armor – only 20 Samples for a full armor set.
In addition, you may craft a Void Bag or Void Vault using Bone, Jungle Spores, and Tissue Samples at Demon Altars or Crimson Vaults. This combo allows you to store additional items in a pocket dimension.
Finally, the Deathbringer Pickaxe (12 Crimtane Bars, six samples) and Flesh Grinder (10 Crimtane Bars, six samples) hammer are both required for progression. Make sure you get them!
