The Game Awards is heading into its 10th anniversary, and today, this year’s show was announced. The gaming industry’s biggest night of the year will take place on December 7th, 2023. This year’s awards will be held at the Peacock Theater, formally known as the Microsoft Theater, in Los Angeles, California.
For video game enthusiasts who can’t make it to the show in person, this year’s show will still stream for free across over 30 digital video platforms—Steam, X (Twitter), YouTube, TikTok Live, Facebook, and more among them. With over 103 million live streams in 2022, The Game Awards proved to be the biggest night in gaming, and you won’t want to miss what they have in store for 2023!
“Each year, we look forward to hosting a show that honors the stand-out games of the year while also announcing and previewing some of the world’s biggest and most anticipated video games,” said Geoff Keighley, creator and executive producer of The Game Awards. “With so many beloved video game franchises exploring new mediums and developers creating new experiences across platforms, whether in games, television, movies, and beyond, the industry continues to expand in many surprising ways, and we can’t wait to honor the year’s best games and to show viewers around the world what’s next.”
Geoff Keighley is no stranger to gaming, hosting some of the industry’s biggest events. This summer has already seen Summer Game Fest, which has grown exponentially compared to previous years. Gamescom 2023 begins this week, where Keighley will be hosting gamescom Opening Night Live, which will be sharing plenty of game announcements ahead of the event in Cologne, Germany.
The Game Awards 2022 brought a slew of celebrity guests, including The Last of Us stars Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascal, Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Super Mario Bros. Movie’s Keegan Michael-Key. Guests for The Game Awards 2023 have yet to be announced, but they have confirmed musical performances and the return of The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by Lorne Balfe.
