During the lead-up to the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase later this week, Microsoft announced some updates to Xbox Cloud Gaming.
In total, the plan includes the following:
- Bringing the Xbox app to Samsung 2022 Smart TVs
- Expanding Xbox Cloud Gaming to more countries
- Bringing new gaming experiences to Microsoft Edge and Windows 11
- Rolling out updates for Xbox Game Pass members
- Introducing more options to express yourself with Xbox Design Lab
Starting on June 30th, Samsung 2022 SmartTV owners can access the Xbox app via the Samsung Gaming Hub or Media Hub. You will be able to connect with a controller through Bluetooth.
Xbox Cloud Gaming will have its beta open to Argentina and New Zealand citizens. Supported devices include Apple and Android phones and tablets, Windows PCs, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Samsung Smart TVs.
One of the biggest announcements is that Game Pass Ultimate members can play select games they own outside of Game Pass through the cloud. The full list of supported games isn’t available at this time.
“We’re building a platform that can reach billions of players—whether it’s on console, whether it’s on PC, whether it’s through Xbox cloud streaming – where players on any device they want to play on should be able to find the content they want to play,” said Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer.
Project Moorcroft had its first details announced as well. The program allows Game Pass members to discover new curated demos. In addition, independent developers will not just gain exposure for their upcoming titles but also track metrics on how their demos perform and be compensated.
